The pleasure culture
Codorníu is a company specialized in the making and marketing of quality cavas and still wines.
Its philosophy is centred around land, tradition and family, three mainstays that have been passed down the generations for nearly 5 centuries to ensure quality and excellence.
Codorníu aims to maintain its unique style through elaborating its products in an all encompassing manner, employing the controls which are required in the production of great wines and cava, from the vine through to the final production processes.
Cava sparkling wine was first introduced in Spain 1872 and produced using the méthode champenoise. This has since been the lifelong dedication and passion of Codorníu for more than 130 years.
Codorníu also represents modernity. Its cavas are prepared and aged in its legendary cellars, which were designed by the modernist architect Josep Puig I Cadafalch and declared a National Artistic and Historical Monument in 1976. It is the world’s largest wine cellars where over 100 million bottles are aging.
Codorníu’s international growth began in 1894 when the first cavas were exported to Cuba and Argentina. Since then its international calling has led to its presence in 90 countries. Its main markets are Germany, the United Kingdom, Sweden, Norway, Finland, the Netherlands, Japan,
Canada and the USA.
Codorníu also has its own vineyards and wineries in the USA and Argentina.
