MARRON GLACÉ, S.L., selling under the brand name JOSÉ POSADA, is a family-run fruits company with head offices in Galicia.

The company was founded in 1955 when the entrepreneur José Posada Torres first started exporting chestnuts to Brazil.

Its core activity is producing and selling the natural products of Galicia, such as turnip greens, almonds, mirabelles and a variety of chestnuts:  marrons glacés, marrons with brandy, crème marrons , bombons glacé, chestnuts in syrup, chestnuts cooked au natural, pre-cooked chestnuts, chestnut puree, chestnut flour, etc.

The company exports its products worldwide from Galicia. The company first started exporting to Japan in 1968 and this country is now one of its main markets.

Its products bear the Ecological Agriculture stamp in recognition of the Protected Geographical Indications of Castañas de Galicia and Grelos de Galicia. The company also works in compliance with the ISO 2200 quality standard, a safety management system for food products that harmonises the requirements for food safety management throughout the food supply chain.

The company is one of the leading firms in the sector both in Spain and abroad and during 2010 has been awarded the Expansión Award for Internationalisation and the CEO Award for Business Excellence.

José Posada’s experience of more than 50 years and the delicate production process of all of its natural products, without the use of artificial preservatives, makes the company the only one of its kind worldwide.  There is strong demand for its products in specialist food stores and restaurants in Spain and in distant and demanding markets such as Japan, the United States, the Arab Emirates, Brazil and Russia.
