The Leading Brands of Spain Forum (LBSF) is an institution that arose from
the initiative of a group of leading companies from a range of sectors.They
all have outstanding brands,sustained international operations and a permanent
presence in foreign markets. These companies also have the
common aim of working towards the development,defence and promotion
of the Leading Brands of Spain.
At first 17 companies were involved in this initiative, with the participation
and backing of the Ministry of Industry,Tourism and Trade.Today,
94 associated companies are involved,as is the aforementioned Ministry,
the Ministry for Foreign Affairs and Cooperation,the Spanish Institute for
Foreign Trade (ICEX) and the Spanish Patent and Trademark Office (OEPM).
The “The Leading Brands of Spain Forum” Foundation has consolidated
the structure of the Forum as a double entity, comprised of both
Spanish leading brand companies and the relevant Spanish Government
bodies. There is also a “Leading Brands of Spain Association”, made up
uniquely of private companies. Thus, private initiative joins forces with
public institutions in order to support and promote the Leading Brands
of Spain and the “Spanish Brand”in general abroad. The Leading Brands
of Spain Forum is an ambitious initiative, where public and private interests
converge.
Objectives of the LBSF
The development and consolidation of the Leading Brands is one of the
main sources of value generation for companies,and comprises a key strategic
asset for their and the country’s competitiveness.The progress of the
Spanish economic sectors depends on the support given to the companies
that operate internationally and strategically position their brands,
and in so doing build a positive image of Spain.
The objectives of the FMRE are for the public to recognise just how
strategically important the promotion of the Leading Brands is for Spain,
and to achieve specific legal protection and efficient measures for international
promotion.The Forum also intends to help position and strengthen
the image of the “Spanish Brand”abroad,alongside other Spanish “ambassadors”
(Public and private institutions and celebrities from civil
society).
Leading brands of Spain
All the companies that belong to the Leading Brands of Spain Association
share the following characteristics:
— They are leaders in their respective sectors.
— They have one or more leading brands either at a corporative
level or products and services.
— These leading brands are one hundred percent Spanish in terms
of identification or management.
— They have wide-reaching and sustained international standing.
Besides these pre-established criteria, all the member companies of
the Leading Brands of Spain Forum have a clear vocation for international
expansion and leadership, enabling them to contemplate the idea of
contributing and acting as a driving force for the internationalisation of
other companies in the respective sectors.
Being member of the Leading Brands of Spain Forum implies understanding
and assuming the joint responsibility of companies and public
institutions as “Ambassadors”in the construction of an internationally consolidated
Spain, based on the force and the image of Leading Brands.
